History of the Brattleboro Free Library : its growth and development, 1938.

Typescript of articles, announcements, by-laws, list of trustees, etc., pertaining to the history of the public library in Brattleboro, Vt., a W.P.A. project. Brattleboro Library Association was established in 1821; name changed in 1842 to Brattleboro Free Library; moved in 1887 from its quarters in the lower town hall to Main Street and became known as George J. Brooks Library; known as Brooks Memorial Library after the 1960s when the building was torn down, the property sold to the U.S. government for use by the post office, and a new larger building was constructed further down on Main Street.
